What is Hydro Therapy?

Nedpoint proudly introduced our Equine Hydro Rehabilitation Center in March of 2003. The foundation of our rehab facility is centered around the "Aqua Tread".

The Aqua Tread, is a combination of a treadmill, whirlpool and a swimming pool. It is specially designed for therapeutic healing, strengthening, conditioning and training of all types of horses. The water treadmill is enclosed in a 70 x 30 barn attached to a 120 x 40 barn with 20 12 x 12 stalls - horse walker and large turnout paddocks.

Horses love this relaxing and invigorating form of exercise. Veterinarians and trainers agree that this form of hydro-therapy is both physically and psychologically beneficial to the animal. Unlike traditional swimming pool therapy, the horse can exercise in a controlled environment, using its normal gait and the same muscles as in use while exercising in training without endue stress or trauma. With 20 Jacuzzi jets, five on each leg, and a controlled water temperature, the buoyancy of the water supports the body while allowing enough concussion to build bone density and develop tensile strength in tendons, ligaments and muscles. In addition horses maintain a healthy cardiovascular system and are mentally recharged through the new activity.

Dori Thomsson will individually set up programs for each horse, working with owner, trainer and veterinarian to assure a rapid return to the training program.
